Holidays for disabled children
Trewan Sands offer holidays through various holiday companies and other charitable organizations. We work closely with local authority disability units, special needs schools and various other charities throughout the UK. All the Children & families who benefit from our holidays are referred to us directly from one of the above. Our Loyal Supporters continued support allows us to make an enormous difference to the lives of the children and families that we help and gives them. This year, TSC have had their first music festival with the help of Burnham Grammar School, which went down an absolute storm. They also have a new face of the Charity of Angel, a beautiful 5 year old who is always ready to entertain. Trewan Sands Childrens Trust have also introduced Frankie. Frankie was diagnosed with Brachycephaly when he was 5 months old which caused his head to become severely misshapen. With the aid of a helmet, generously provided by TWC, Frankie is well on his way back to health! On Friday the 25th September 2015, We participated in the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ in aid of Macmillans Cancer support and held two coffee mornings. They were both great success, way beyond our expectations! Well done to all who took the time to bake some fabulous cakes and to those who bought them as well. Thank you all for making the effort for such a worthy cause. Our Stopford Road office event was organised by RLO Yasmine Mahmood; and raised a whopping £330 PLUS another £25 was donated by a resident from Ray Gunter OAP home, who benefited from our left over cakes. In addition, another £110 was raised at the Olney Road site by our RLOs Charmaine Dullard, Natasha Nicholls and TRA. In total, we managed to raise a massive sum in the region of £465. The Blue Elephant is a small charity which reaches more than 5,000 people each year, through their professional and participation programmes. They aim to give creative opportunties to those who might otherwise miss out on them and they work really hard to keep offering as much as they can.We were alerted to the charities plight by local community links manager as we are currently doing lots of work in the area we decided we needed to “ give something back” and went to visit the theatre to see how we could help .
The stage floor was in an old and dilapidated condition so we agreed to renew parts of the stage floor that were uneven and dangerous . We provided labour and materials and redecorated the floor to give a new safe useable finish and were very proud to enable the “show to go on “
