A&E Elkins have a long tradition of apprenticeships dating back to 1963, when the company started up to the present day.
Our first apprentice was the son of our founders; Arthur and Brenda and is now our Managing Director, Ray Elkins. He passed his City and Guilds apprentice of the year award in mastic asphalt in 1971. Keeping with the family tradition, Ricky Smith was our last trainee to complete his apprenticeship in mastic asphalt. Ricky is now our Roofing manager.
A & E Elkins has produced several other successful apprentices, among whom are a qualified RLO and compliance co-ordinator. We have many others working towards their apprenticeships in plumbing, electrical, resident liaison, surveying, administration and more.
London Borough of Southwark Apprentice of the Year 2015
Last year, we nominated two apprentices – Jerel Morris and Amy Bruce- for Southwark Council’s ‘Apprentice of the Year’ awards. The awards are in recognition of the partnering contractors’ successful apprenticeship schemes.
We are very proud to announce that both Jerel and Amy won prizes. First prize went to Jerel and third prize to Amy.
They were presented their awards by Councillor Richard Livingstone, who commended them for their hard work and dedication.
